Pressure Test for the Hokusei SWT blocks
The main hurdle to apply the SWT blocks for building construction was
the Building Standard Law in Japan.

This explains why there has not been any new method for wooden house construction for a long time. Besides the traditional Japanese construction method, Western 2x4 method, and Canadian log house method, the building standard law in Japan has made it difficult for other housing construction methods to earn the proper approval.

To obtain the certificate from the BCJ, the SWT blocks were repeatedly examined at a university laboratory to prove the outstanding strength.

These tests have proven that the SWT method is stronger than any of the wooden construction methods that currently exist.

910mm block bears the strain of 24 tons.
This is the same strength as 120cm square logs.

Research and development on the SWT blocks continue to improve on and offer upgraded versions and new possibilities.

  • These examinations were conducted to prove the strength of the SWT blocks, not to pass the minimum standard of the building standard law.
  • Examinations have been also conducted on bolts, hardware, and other materials used for the SWT method to ensure the certified strength and quality.
